Bumper Pool Tables

Bumper Pool Tables are, with a few exceptions, octagonal and felt covered as are most traditional pool tables. A bumper pool table contains twelve or more rubber bumpers, some of which surround the holes at each end of the table. Played with only ten balls, five white and five red, bumper pool tables are undoubtedly smaller than the average pool table and can be played in a much smaller space. The game is not as complicated as the eight and nine ball versions that are popular on larger tables that have number sucession rules.

The bumper pool rules are straight-forward and easily picked up. Both, the white set and the red set of balls are placed on the table. The objective is for each player to shoot his marked ball into the pockets on the other player's side of the table. The first shot in any game must begin with the marked ball being bounced off of one of the bumpers that are set into the table. Once a player misses, on or after their initial shot the game beings with the opposing player. Every shot however does not have to be towards the pockets. Ball placement between a given set of bumpers, or in the way of a given pocket, can provide a type of defense that it hard to duplicate on a regular pool table.

The average cost of which could range from $400 through $1000, depending on the style, type and quality table desired. The size of the bumper pool table can change the price dramatically. Before deciding which type and size of bumper pool table you would like to purchase be mindful of the space needed to shoot in accord with your available space. The cues are generally forty-eight inches and with a table space of about forty-two inches a good eight foot diameter would be perfect for the average bumper pool table.
